Nabeel Al Jahan
Nabeel Al Jahan is a Master of Arts (History) student at the University of Lethbridge, supervised by Dr. Gideon Fujiwara. His current research focuses on a compelling historical-linguistic inquiry into the connections between Japanese, Bengali, and Tamil, exploring how these genealogically distinct languages were bridged through the historical expansion of Vajrayana Buddhism and the influence of the Siddham script. He has published several books in his native Bengali, including "Pauraṇik Bagdhara [Mythological Idioms]" and "Amader Cholochchitre '52-r Uposthapon [Representation of the '52 Language Movement in Bangladeshi Film]." His academic journey is informed by extensive fieldwork at ancient Buddhist sites in South Asia and a deep interest in the intersection of linguistics, religious history, and political identity. Nabeel has presented his research at various international scholarly forums, including the Japan Studies Association of Canada (JSAC), the International Congress of Bengal Studies (ICBS), and the Canadian Political Science Association (CPSA). He currently serves as a Research Assistant for the A’tsimaani: Blackfoot Language Conference.
