Nikita Gionet

Nikita Gionet is a Project Coordinator for the Mentor-Apprentice Program with ECE-Indigenous Languages Secretariat. Her Dëne Sųłıné name is T'áncháy, which means "flower" and was given to her by her grandfather. Born in Yellowknife, NT, she grew up in Lutsel K'e, NT, where she was immersed in the Dëne Sųłıné language on a daily basis.

Nikita is passionate about revitalizing her ancestral languages and shares her knowledge and experiences with her family. She enjoys helping others who are on a similar journey to learn an Indigenous language. As a role model, a mother, a language learner, moose hide tanner, and hockey player, she strives to inspire her community members to reconnect with their languages.

Nikita's commitment, leadership, and passion for revitalizing Indigenous languages fuel her efforts in preserving cultural identity and promoting holistic well-being.
